# getInflationGovernor

`getInflationGovernor` returns the parameters governing how network-wide inflation decays: the initial annual rate, yearly taper, terminal (floor) rate, and the foundation's share. These are cluster-wide constants that change far less often than the per-epoch numbers from `getInflationRate`.

`getInflationGovernor` covers the schedule itself; `getInflationRate` covers the actual rate in effect for the current epoch.

## Parameters

`params` is a positional JSON array, in this order:

- `config` (object, optional): Commitment configuration.
  - `commitment` (string, optional, one of `finalized`, `confirmed`, `processed`, default `"finalized"`): Bank state to read the governor from. In practice these parameters are the same regardless of commitment.

## Result

- `result` (object, optional): The inflation schedule parameters, expressed as annual rates (0.08 = 8%).
  - `initial` (number, required): Initial annual inflation rate at the start of the schedule.
  - `terminal` (number, required): Terminal (floor) annual inflation rate the schedule decays toward and then holds.
  - `taper` (number, required): Annual rate of reduction applied to the inflation rate each year until it reaches the terminal rate.
  - `foundation` (number, required): Fraction of total inflation directed to the foundation, as an annual rate.
  - `foundationTerm` (number, required): Number of years the foundation inflation share is paid out for.
